How Do You Control Dog Smell In Your House?

Written By: admin on February 8, 2010 5 Comments

I have two big dogs, one of which is not quite house broke. My living room smells of dog urine and I cant get rid of the smell. I have tried pet febreeze, pet oxygen for carpets, regular carpet cleaner and special pet odor vacuum bags. They just mask the smell and it comes back in a day or two.

I have tried many things in the past, including the one everyone talks about, I think it’s Nature’s Miracle, but the one that works perfect EVERYTIME the FIRST TIME is Fresh N Clean oxy-strength….it works great the first time, no need to use it over and over again to get rid of the smell and stain. I would swear by it!
Our house has absolutely NO pet odor and NO pet stains of any kind. We buy it at Quality Supply which is a feed / agricultural store. Not suer what you have in your area. But I just Googled it and it appears you can get it on line and at Petsmart as well. Here is a Petsmart link…http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js…
    Check out the reviews too.

Right now I have 3 dogs(1 indoor, 1 outdoor and an outdoor puppy), 3 cats and 3 guinea pigs.
I have a large male dog(outdoor) that was never housed trained, we got him when he was a year old and every time we let him walk around in the house he would pee on something(the tv stand, cat climbing house, etc) after 3 or 4 times we didn’t let him wonder around the house anymore. We use a baby gate and keep him in the front hall at night when he comes in to sleep.
Have you ever tried a carpet steam cleaner? I bought one for $100, you could also rent one from many grocery stores but it’s around $25-$50+ for the day. I loved it, and owning your own you can use it when ever you want and you can clean up messes right away. We took out our carpets and put in laminate floors instead.. the house smells way better!
    Good luck!

You need enzyme cleaning products. If your carpet isn’t clean, your dog will continue to use it for his own personal bathroom

Use “Urine off”. It works well, and they also produce a urine detector light, so you know the areas to treat.
