My Bissell Vacuum Cleaner Is Spraying Dust Like Crazy! What’s Wrong With It?

Written By: admin on February 8, 2010 One Comment

It's bagless vacuum. I've emptied it, checked both the filters, and cleaned everything I can get to. I think there might be some compartment I don't know about, but I can't find anything online. There are literally CLOUDS of dust everywhere - it's disgusting! Is there something I'm missing?

My wife routinely fails to fully close parts of the dust collection container on our vacuum, which I _think_ is a Bissell. I’m not sure which model you have, but take the dust container out and pull on the ends and other closures to ensure they’re fully latched. On one side of the dust container, the end plate is supposed to be hooked under a lip on the container; that one she often doesn’t get fully under the lip before she latches the other side.
Also, there should be a filter and all the paper folds should be intact. If it is missing or the filter paper is torn, that would account for the blowing dust.
If you can, take it outside to test it.
