The iRobot Roomba Vacuum Cleaner – The Amazing Vacuum Robot

Robots are in several gear these days, primarily cars, consumer electronics and home appliances. They are not like those humanoid robots that you see in sc-fi movies but simple computer processors that carry out a solo job such that the full machine works smoothly. A lot of of these simple robots also scrutinize their functioning so that they can self develop this productivity. The majority of them are designed to make our lives easier and do things that are considered to be repetitive and boring for humans. One type of robot that fits this description is the iRobot Roomba vacuum cleaner.

The Roomba is developed by the corporation iRobot that have their roots in the robot and artificial intelligence work that began in the 1980's. Much of this work was based around developing insect type robots. So things like spiders and beetles and other types of creatures were used as inspiration to make metal and silicon simulacrums.

Out of this initial research came the Roomba vacuum cleaner . If any thing it is like a beetle in that it scurries across a surface (hardwood floor, linoleum, carpet..even outdoor areas like patios) cleaning up and by and large making things look spic and span. There are a a small amount of different types of Roomba vacuum robot. These varieties suggest changes in the design as the Roomba has been improved or represent a specialty model that has a specific function. So the Roomba started off with the 3 series vacuum cleaner and has advanced to a 6 series model. Things have been improved along the way, such as a better homing device when it tries to return to base for recharging. The moving and cleaning parts have been enhanced so that they do not get blocked with muck and hair as easily.

The result of all these continuous improvements is a vacuum cleaner that will clean your carpets to a high standard with little to no involvement from you. It can even be programed to work at night or when you are out of the home at work.

The specialty models include the scooba which, as the title suggests, washes and cleans floors using water or a cleaning solution. In short, it washes as well as cleaning the surface.

The outdoor surfaces such as the garage and the patio can also be cleaned with the Dirt Dog Roomba. This will do an admirable job in these parts of the home. As it's name suggests it is a bit more robust and can pick up bigger objects. It has a larger dirt bin than other Roombas too.
